Lorenzo -
I’m Lorenzo the materials engineer for this group and pi. Those are two out of the 6 roles in this group.
The materials engineer is in charge of of making the tank work properly, and knowing it inside out. Setting up for the fish we will be hosting, and trying to make their living experience better. Also in charge if anything breaks how I can fix it as soon as possible, and checking that everything works fine. Which means if I mess up in setting it up it can impact the fish in a big way which has it’s pros, and cons. I am also in charge of how our tank will be looking or how it needs to be modified for the experiments that we will be doing. So that can be changing how it looks aesthetically or also the machinery. That’s my role as the materials engineer. I’m also a PI which stands for principal investigator. Which means I am almost like the leader of the group, but not really. I’m the go to person when they have questions or when jobs need to be assigned I’ll be in charge of that. That’s mostly what the PI does it’s a smaller second job. All the measurements for the tank and the 3d google sketch.
The image above shows the 3d sketch up we made before starting the project
Bubbler-
It’s a filter in which provides fish some oxygen so they can get some oxygen too. Which also helps in restoring some of the ammonia, and other ph levels.
Filter-
This is the actual filter in which the water goes through, and takes all the bad bacteria, and other small particles. Which the water comes back clean again, and reusable for the fish.
Substrate-
Is what is at the bottom of the tank so they have some sort of rocks, and makes it feel more at home.
Pots-
Are more for decoration also used for hiding places so the fish don’t feel stressed.
Fake plants-
The fake plants are used to make it a more friendly environment for the fish, and so they have spots to hide to feel less stressed.
Heater-
The heater is to make the water in the tank to be at a stable temperature for the fish.
Rocks-
The rocks can be used to absorb also some of the bacteria in the tank.
Lights-
The lights are used to provide fish with some sort of lighting that acts like the sun.
Tank Size-
Our tank has a total of 22 US gallons. The length is 24 inches, width 12 1/2, and height is 17 inches.
