Principal Investigator/Publicist
As the publicist, I am in charge of finding the materials my group will need to inquire and use throughout our experiment. My job is to connect to local stores and ask them for support and see if they want to donate materials we might need. In exchange, we will take any new products they have and want to test but not on their fish, and we are willing to test the products on our fish tank. Another thing we will do is advertise them in our posters and web page and show people how they contributed. Another thing is providing our group for the test we are doing for our tank. I am also the principal investigator, which means I am basically the CEO of my group's whole operation. I look to be responsible for whatever results we end up with by the end of this project! Having this role not only means I am focusing on my tasks of getting completed, but my whole group's tasks being completed, and showcase ready.
Experiment Tasks
Well based on our experiment, I had easy access to materials, by using Amazon. We are using materials/decor that are unnatural to fish in their natural habitat, hence the word, "unnatural". I found the best possible materials to use in terms of quality and price. The publicist job wasn't that hard to take care of because of the easy accessibility I had to the necessary materials we needed.
For the Principal Investigator role, here is where the most of my efforts was needed! I took on the leadership role in this project, because of how I feel that I am and always have been a strong leader/facilitator over the years inside/outside of High Tech High. I was in control of what gets accomplished and what needs to be done by who. I take account of what steps and jobs we need to complete in what amount of time, and with that comes assigning homework to what group member needs to get something done by the next day. I do this to the best of my ability because I know a team is as strong as its leader is, so I always stay on top of things. While I am completing my own tasks, I also help my group members complete theirs if needed.
